ROAD TRAFFIC INJURIES are the ninth leading cause of death globally, responsible for over 1.25 million deaths and tens of millions of people being injured or disabled every year (WHO, 2016).

ISO 39001 addresses the contribution that can be made by organizations to prevent avoidable death and serious injury across the road traffic system.

In Malaysia, Malaysian Road and Transportation Safety Association (MRTSA) president, Nik Mohd Salim Nik Mohd Salleh said education and awareness were key in reducing ambulance accidents.

MRTSA is working on convincing transport companies, fleet operators and departments with large fleet to embrace ISO 39001, Road Traffic Safety Management System.
